Position: Bartender

Reports To: Management

Description:

  • Prepare bar and keep it well stocked with: ice, liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, condiments, candles, napkins, straws, service plates, glassware and utensils
  • Protect establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies
  • Follow alcohol awareness procedures for preventing intoxication and dealing with intoxicated guests
  • Check customers’ identification and confirm they meet legal drinking age
  • Prepare and sell alcohol or non-alcohol beverages for bar and restaurant patrons
  • Create a positive guest experience by guiding guests through the menu, recommending spirits, beers, cocktails, and aperitifs; suggesting courses; explaining the chef's specialties; identifying appropriate wines; answering food preparation questions.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all menu items and is able to answer questions regarding food and drink items and their preparation
  • Use Micros quickly and in proper sequence, receiving and executing bar orders, sending food orders to kitchen; identifying patrons' special dietary needs and special requests.
  • Keep kitchen staff informed with timing of meal progression.
  • Maintain bar setting by removing courses as completed; replenishing utensils; replenishing beverages; refilling water glasses; being alert to patron spills or other special needs.
  • Ensure consistently clean glasses, silverware, table setups and working areas
  • Deliver an amazing guest experience through the best combination of food, wine and bar service
  • Participate in all incentives and contests, driving sales and promoting the brand.
  • Follow portion guidelines to ensure cost control, while maximizing the guest experience
  • Ensure all financial transactions are accurate by operating credit card machines correctly, calculating and returning appropriate change
  • Must demonstrate ability to operate Micros, make changes, accurately conduct credit card transactions, and account of all monies at the end of each shift

Experience / Background:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a comparable position
  • Professional appearance, excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Physical Abilities:

  • Must be able to lift and carry 60 pounds
  • Must be able to stand, walk, lift, and bend for long periods of time
  • Ability to communicate well and maintain positive interpersonal relations with co-workers and guests
